Getting here
Finding the inn
Almost everyone arrives the same way, whichever direction they started from. Robbinsville is the last town on the route and the last place to stop for anything.
Downtown Robbinsville is about 8.9 miles away and takes about twenty-three minutes, which tells you most of what you need to know about the roads out here: the miles are short and they are not quick. Fill the tank there, and do your shopping there too. It is a great deal easier than coming back out for a forgotten thing.
From Robbinsville the road climbs and empties out. The Cherohala Skyway joins about 1.3 miles from us, so if you find yourself on the Skyway proper you have gone a little past the turn rather than badly wrong.
Coming from further afield, Asheville is about ninety-five miles away. Knoxville and Atlanta are both longer hauls than the map makes them look, for the same reason: the last hour is mountain road, and mountain road does not average what an interstate does. Give yourself more time than the estimate, and the drive stops being a chore.

The last part is a mountain road
It climbs up from the Lake Santeetlah side, and Blue Boar is the first place you reach as you come up the hill. Being tucked near the end of the road is exactly why it sounds the way it does when you get out of the car. Take it gently and allow a little more time than your phone suggests.

Download the route in town
Mobile data out here is slow and patchy, so a map that has to load as you drive will not. Download it while you still have signal in Robbinsville. Voice calls generally get through, so ringing us works even where the map has given up.

Arrive in daylight the first time
Only the first time, and only because everything is easier to see. After that you will know the way and the dark stops mattering. Once you are here, Starlink wifi runs throughout the inn and it works well.
